Project: H -> WW NanoAOD Analysis Framework: A Guide to LHC Data Analysis

This project will develop a structured and reproducible analysis framework that reflects a realistic search for the Higgs boson in the H to WW decay channel using CMS NanoAOD open data from the LHC. It is intended to bridge the gap between theoretical coursework and the practical complexities of experimental particle physics by guiding beginners and early-career researchers through a full analysis workflow. The framework covers trigger selection, object reconstruction, event selection, background modeling, and statistical inference, while noting the limitations of publicly available data. The project will be implemented through well-documented Python notebooks and modular analysis tools. The final outcome will be a public GitHub repository that functions both as a practical toolkit for Higgs studies and as a comprehensive educational resource adaptable to other LHC Open Data analyses.
