Biography

Sunil Bansal is an Assistant Professor of Physics and DST INSPIRE Faculty at the University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), Panjab University, Chandigarh, India (2014–present). He received his Ph.D. in Experimental High Energy Physics from Panjab University in 2010, and subsequently held a postdoctoral position with the CMS Experiment at the University of Antwerp, Belgium (2011–2014). He has been a member of the CMS Collaboration at CERN since 2006 and of the DUNE Collaboration at FNAL since 2015.

Project interests

His broad physics interest is on elementary particle physics and detector R&D in association with the CMS experiment at CERN. His research focuses on multiple parton interactions and underlying event measurements at the LHC, soft QCD, and studies of Higgs boson properties. He has served as L3 convener of the Soft QCD and MPI subgroup of the FSQ Physics Analysis Group within CMS, and as a member of the CMS Analysis Review Committee.
